Course Overview

The Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR) course is designed to equip seafarers with essential knowledge and understanding of safe working practices, effective communication, teamwork, and social responsibility onboard ships.

This course is part of the mandatory STCW Basic Safety Training and complies with STCW Regulation VI/1 and Section A-VI/1-4 of the STCW Code (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers).

Through interactive classroom sessions, case studies, and discussions, participants learn how to identify potential hazards, prevent accidents, and contribute to maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible working environment at sea.

Certification & Validity

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive an STCW-compliant Certificate of Proficiency in Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR) – Course ID 6141.

Validity:
The PSSR Certificate does not have an expiry date and is valid for life (Unlimited).
As per DG Shipping (India) and IMO regulations, there is no requirement for a refresher or revalidation course for PSSR.
However, some foreign flag administrations may require a revalidation every 5 years as part of their own flag documentation policy. Seafarers are advised to check with the respective flag state or company if sailing under a different registry.
